The Ministry of Antiquities has approved the development of the Claudias Canteras as an open-air museum, to expose the works that were carried out in Egypt during Roman times.
The Claudias quarries they were a granite treatment area, a work place with horse stables and containers for this material. The Minister of Antiquities, Mamdouh Eldamaty, has said that during the Roman era the place was used as a mine to obtain construction materials.
